Among the standout family-friendly destinations is certainly Charmingfare Farm (774 High Street, Candia, NH), a mere half-hour or so from our location here in Merrimack.
The Charmingfare Farm Experience
Charmingfare Farm isn’t just a tourist attraction: It’s also a genuine working farm, the day-to-day agricultural and maintenance operations going on alongside a slew of public attractions, from summer camps and hayrides to holiday soirees and concerts, not to mention birthday parties and other private events.
A genuine menagerie of both domesticated and wild creatures inhabits Charmingfare Farm. On the barnyard side of the spectrum, you’ve got draft and saddle and miniature horses, dairy and beef cattle, llamas and alpacas, Nigerian miniature goats, Kahatdin hair sheep, pigs and peacocks, and sundry other charming critters. Here you’ll also find such decidedly non-domesticated species as American black bears, mountain lions, wolves, grey foxes, lynx, red-tailed hawks, and porcupines.
Upcoming Events at Charmingfare Farm
Charmingfare Farm holds regular special events, and the calendar during the holiday season is chock full of happenings. Attend Santa’s Big Party on select December days, and you’ll be kicking things off with a half-hour horse-drawn tour of the property’s Christmas trail. Santa and his reindeer as well as a smorgasbord of holiday lights and decorations are on tap for the Lighted Winter Wonderland installation. Charmingfare Farm is also throwing an all-out New Year’s Eve party complete with hot dogs, steak tips, and other grilled delights, multiple bonfires, and other festivities.
Farther out on the Charmingfare Farm schedule, meanwhile, are such annual favorites as Shearing Day, which sees the Olde English Babydoll sheep get a springtime haircut; the ursine-oriented Teddy Bear Picnic in July; and the ever-popular Reptile Day, a collaboration with New England Reptile Distributors.
